Elon Musk shared that xAI is preparing to release an early beta version of Grokipedia, a new artificial intelligence (AI) driven encyclopedia, within the next two weeks.
He described the project as a tool to counter misinformation and address gaps in widely accepted knowledge.
Musk had previously introduced Grokipedia on September 30. He explained that it would serve as a better alternative to Wikipedia.

He mentioned that this project is part of xAI’s strategy to improve the understanding and sharing of information about the universe. The upcoming platform is expected to be open source, though few technical details have been made public.
The name “Grokipedia” came up during a live discussion at a technology-focused podcast event hosted by The All-In Podcast.
At the time, Musk described how xAI’s assistant, Grok, reviews various materials, including articles, PDFs, and reference pages, to evaluate whether the content is factual, partly accurate, incorrect, or missing important context.
Grok then rewrites the material to reflect what it determines to be the full truth.
During this conversation, podcast co-host David Sacks suggested creating a dedicated service called Grokipedia. Musk responded by saying he would consider the idea with his team.
Wikipedia has long faced criticism for its community-editing model. This model has sparked concerns over editorial bias and uneven content approval practices.
